Riverstill, A quiet retreat on the banks of the Groot Marico River

Tucked away in a peaceful valley just outside Groot Marico, Riverstill Guest Farm offers a rare kind of stillness. Here, along the clear, free-flowing waters of the Groot Marico River, guests find space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with nature, with creativity, and with themselves.

Riverstill is home to a small collection of self-catering cottages, each one private and thoughtfully placed in the surrounding bushveld. Built from natural materials and restored with care, the cottages blend into the landscape, offering comfort without intrusion. Every cottage is unique in its own way. The valley is safe, the nights are quiet, and the sky stretches endlessly above.

The river itself is central to life here. Its waters are clean and tested regularly,  perfect for drinking, swimming, fishing, or simply sitting beside. Canoes are available for a slow paddle, and hiking trails wind through the valley and across the ridgeline beyond.

Guests are invited to pick herbs from the garden, take a meditative walk through the labyrinth, or simply relax and watch the birds, more than 300 species have been spotted in the area. 

Riverstill has hosted music festivals, poetry readings, intimate weddings, and the Herman Charles Bosman Festival for over two decades. It’s a place where memories are made gently, and where many guests return year after year.
